BUTLER 61, UIC 54
INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- The Butler Bulldogs advanced to the Super 16 of the 2025 Postseason WNIT with a 61-54 victory over the UIC Flames on Sunday afternoon.
Butler was led by Lily Zeinstra, who scored a game-high 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Sydney Janes added 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting, while Jocelyn Land added 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting to round out the scoring for Butler.
UIC was led by Keimari Rimmer, who racked up 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists before fouling out late in the fourth quarter.
As a team, Butler shot 51 percent from the field, including 63.6 percent in the deciding fourth quarter, while UIC shot 38.9 percent from the floor. The Bulldogs will take on the winner of Purdue Fort Wayne and Old Dominion, with the date and time TBD.
DUQUESNE 73, MIAMI (OH) 66
OXFORD, OH – Megan McConnell had 24 points and nine rebounds, Jerni Kiaku scored 17 points, Mackenzie Blackford added 14 points and Andjela Matic closed with 13 points as Duquesne won on the road againsat Miami (OH) in Round 2 of the 2025 Postseason WNIT.
The Dukes (21-12) will play Cleveland State or Coppin State in the Super 16.
Duquesne hit six 3-pointers in the first quarter, finishing with 11 for the game. The Dukes struggled with turnovers in the final quarter and saw the RedHawks (19-12) close within 70-66 on a 3-pointer from Katey Richason with 1:23 remaining.
Amber Tretter had 15 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks for Miami (OH). Maya Chandler scored 16 points, Tamar Singer added 11 points and Lakresha Edwards closed with 10 points.
RUTGERS 71, ARMY 60
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Four players scored in double figures for Rutgers as the Scarlet Knights knocked off Army, 71-60, to advance to the Super 16 of the 2025 Postseason WNIT.
JoJo Lacey paced the team with 17 points, four rebounds and four assists, while Zachara Perkins and Destiny Adams were big inside with 13 points and nine rebounds, and 12 points and 10 rebounds, respectively. Awa Sidibe was the fourth Scarlet Knight to reach double figures with 13 points.
Rutgers held a 13-point lead at halftime, which was cut to five points entering the fourth quarter, before Rutgers eventually pulled away late. Defensively, Rutgers held Army to just 31.9 percent shooting from the field, and 6-of-33 from 3-point range. In the fourth quarter, Rutgers held Army to just one make of its last 13 field goal attempts.
The Scarlet Knights await the winner of Charleston and Howard in the Super 16, date and time TBD.
BUFFALO 84, UMASS 82 (OT)
BUFFALO, NY – Ariana Seawell’s layup with 1:50 left in overtime were the final points in a high-flying matchup as Buffalo bounced back from a rough third quarter to eventually slip past UMass in Round 2 of the 2025 Postseason WNIT.
The Bulls (26-7) will face Southern Indiana or Campbell in the Super 16 round.
UMass outscored Buffalo 28-14 in the third quarter, but the Bulls stormed back with a 14-2 in the final quarter and had a 72-69 lead with two minutes left. Allie Palmieri hit a 3-pointer for UMass to tie it at 72-all with 1:36 to go; after a made shot from Buffalo’s Jordyn Beaty, Palmieri tied it again with 55 seconds left to send the game into overtime.
Chellia Watson scored 26 points for Buffalo and topped the 2,000-point mark for her career. Beaty scored 14 points while Kirsten Lewis-Williams, Lani Cornfield and Seawell each scored 12 points. Cornfield tied a Postseason WNIT record with 15 assists.
The Minutewomen (17-15) outrebounded Buffalo, 41-22, but had 28 turnovers. Yahmani McKayle scored 19 points, Stefanie Kulesza had 18 points and five steals, and Megan Olbrys filled the boxscore with 11 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists. Palmieri finished with 12 points and Lilly Ferguson added 10 points.
ILLINOIS STATE 90, WESTERN ILLINOIS 80
NORMAL, IL – Illinois State shot 55 percent from the field, including 11-for-21 from 3-point range, and got 28 points from sophomore guard Shannon Dowell in a victory over Western Illinois.
The Redbirds (22-12) now have a 44-4 lead in the all-time series against the Leathernecks (17-17) and will face Central Arkansas or Abilene Christian in the Super 16 round.
Raegan McCowan hit a 3-pointer for Western Illinois and followed with a layup and free throw to pull the Leathernecks within 78-76 with 4:18 left in the fourth quarter. Addison Martin countered for ISU with a three-point play and layup, pushing the Redbirds ahead, 83-76, with 3:30 to go.
Elyce Knudsen had 23 points and eight rebounds for ISU; Maya Wong scored 15 points and both Martin and Nevaeh Thomas scored 12 points.
Western Illinois got 30 points and seven rebounds from McCowan. Mia Nicastro had 14 points, Allie Meadows had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Addi Brownfield scored 11 points.
LINDENWOOD 67, TARLETON STATE 59
STEPHENVILLE, TX – Lindenwood’s postseason run continued with a 67-59 victory at Tarleton State to advance to the Super 16 of the 2025 Postseason WNIT.
Gracie Kelsey registered a double-double for the Lions with 16 points and 10 rebounds on 4-of-8 shooting, and 8-of-9 from the free throw line. As a team, Lindenwood took advantage of the charity stripe, going 18-of-23 from the line. Ellie Brueggemann and Brooke Coffey also scored 11 points each.
The Lions had a big advantage from the 3-point line, going 7-of-17 from deep while Tarleton State shot just 2-of-20 from beyond the arc. Lindenwood will look to continue its success in the Super 16 where it awaits the winner of Louisiana Tech and Texas Southern, date and location TBD.
SOUTHERN INDIANA 60, CAMPBELL 51
EVANSVILLE, IN – On a night where the offensive attacks struggled, Meredith Raley scored seven points for Southern Indiana in the final two minutes, enough to subdue Campbell and advance out of Round 2 in the 2025 Postseason WNIT.
The Screaming Eagles (23-12) will host Buffalo (26-7) in the Super 16 round on Thursday, March 27 at 7 p.m. ET.
A 3-pointer by Campbell’s Courtney Dahlquist – her sixth of the game – pulled the Fighting Camels (22-13) to within 45-43 with 4:40 to go in the game. Raley grabbed an offensive board and made a layup at the 2:05 mark, drained a 3-pointer at 1:15 and sealed it with two free throws with 25 seconds remaining.
Raley finished with 20 points and seven rebounds. Madison Webb added 13 points; USI was 5-for-19 from 3-point range but finished a terrific 19-for-20 in free throws.
Dahlquist finished with 20 points; Gianni Boone had eight rebounds.
