HOWARD 72, SIENA 62

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Howard outscored Siena 24-11 in the third quarter Friday to take the lead before cruising to a home victory in Round 1 of the 2025 Postseason WNIT.

The Bison (22-11) will play at College of Charleston (24-7) in Round 2; tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET on Monday, March 24.

Howard trailed by six points at halftime but took over the lead heading into the fourth quarter thanks to an 11-2 scoring run that featured consecutive 3-pointers from Kaiya Creek. Another Creek 3-pointer gave the Bison a 60-58 lead with 5:59 remaining, and more than two and a half scoreless minutes passed before Ahniysha Jackson hit a jumper to tie it at 60-all.

Saniyah King drained a 3-pointer to give Howard a 65-60 lead at the 2:14 mark; Destiny Howell hit two free throws and Zeenia Thomas came through with a steal and layup to put it out of reach, 69-62, with 1:34 to go.

Thomas finished with 19 points; King closed with 16 points and five assists. Creek and Howell each had 11 points – after averaging more than 15 turnovers per game this season, the Bison had just nine in this contest.

The Saints (17-14), in their first postseason appearance in 10 years, were just 8-for-31 from 3-point range. Teresa Seppala, a native of Finland, had 17 points and 11 rebounds; Jackson scored 17 points and Anajah Brown closed with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

UIC 63, UAB 48

CHICAGO, IL – UIC scored 15 straight points to start the fourth quarter, fueling the rally needed to move past UAB in Round 1 of the 2025 Postseason WNIT.

The Flames (15-17) will play at Butler (15-17) in Round 2; tipoff is set for Sunday, March 23 at 1 p.m. ET.

UAB (16-16) used a 16-0 run in the second quarter to take an early lead, but UIC had the finishing touch, capping its run in the final quarter on a layup from Ky Toney-Dempsey.

Keimari Rimmer closed with 22 points, tying her career-high total, and added 10 rebounds for the Flames; Krystyna Ellew scored 11 points and both Toney-Dempsey and Danyel Middleton closed with 10 points.

The Blazers committed 22 turnovers. Eleecia Carter scored 12 points, Sara Bershers added 11 points and Molly Moffitt closed with 10 points and nine rebounds.

UTAH VALLEY 70, AIR FORCE 64

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Utah Valley scored 29 points in the second quarter and then kicked off the fourth quarter with an 8-0 burst, wrapping up a Round 1 victory.

The Wolverines (19-12) will play at Washington State (20-13) in Round 2; tipoff is set for 9 p.m. ET on Monday, March 24.

Tahlia White scored 15 points for Utah Valley, which had a 44-24 edge in rebounding. Halle Nelson closed with 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Danja Stafford had 11 rebounds and five assists.

The Falcons (18-15) only committed four turnovers while forcing 17 from UVU. Madison Smith had 20 points and six rebounds, Milahnie Perry scored 17 points and Keelie O’Hollaren finished with 14 points.
