NC State moved to 6-1 on the season with a 67-56 victory Friday against UAB in Riviera Division play at the women’s Cancun Challenge.
Dominique Wilson had 16 points for the Wolfpack, and Miah Spencer chipped in all over the scorebook with nine points, 11 rebounds, five assists and four steals. Jennifer Mathurin added 11 points and seven rebounds.
NC State grabbed control early, taking a 25-10 lead after one quarter. The Wolfpack was very steady with the ball, committing just eight turnovers, and claimed a 45-40 advantage in rebounds.
The Blazers (2-4) were paced by Chelsee Black, who had 13 points. Kayla Anderson and Keonna Farmer each scored 10 points.
UAB was just 5-of-20 from the 3-point line (25 percent) and also didn’t get much help at the free-throw line, going 5-of-9.
