Elijah Childs had career-best totals of 21 points and 12 rebounds as Bradley pulled ahead in the second half and held off SMU to advance to the Riviera Division championship game on Wednesday.
The Braves (4-1) will face Penn State or Wright State for the title; SMU will play the loser between those two in the third-place game.
Bradley took a 12-point lead in the second half, 49-37, when Childs converted a layup after the Braves rebounded a missed free throw. The Mustangs (2-3) got within 53-50 on a shot by Jimmy Whitt Jr. with 7 minutes left, but Bradley had another push ready to go, pulling ahead 59-52 on a 3-pointer by Childs at the 5:07 mark.
Darrell Brown's 3-pointer at 1:50 was the dagger, putting Bradley up 68-55. Koch Bar had 15 points for the Braves, and Brown closed with 14 points. Nate Kennell finished with 12 points as Bradley shot 51 percent from the field.
A 3-pointer from Nat Dixon and a jumper by Whitt Jr. gave the Mustangs a 24-18 lead with 5:25 left in the first half. The Braves responded with a 12-1 run, capped by a 3-pointer from Brown.
For SMU, Jamal McMurray had 19 points, while Whitt Jr. had 12 points and 13 rebounds. Isiaha Mike closed with 11 points.
