Deshon Taylor scored 23 points and Ray Bowles added 21 more points as Fresno State took a 14-point lead at halftime and fended off multiple rallies by George Mason to secure the win in the third-place game of the Riviera Division.
Bryson Williams chipped in with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs (3-2), who took an eight-point lead (71-63) with 4:09 remaining on Taylor's three-point play. Otis Livingston made a layup with 22 seconds to go to cut it to 76-73, but Fresno State made late free throws to stay ahead.
George Mason (3-3) had balanced scoring -- Ian Boyd finished with 18 points and eight rebounds, Livingston had 18 points, and Goanar Mar closed with 17 points. Jaire Grayer added 12 points and nine rebounds.
