MONTANA STATE 88, SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 82
Tyler Hall hit eight 3-pointers and scored 34 points, and freshman Isaac Bonton hit four clutch fee throws in the final 30 seconds to guide the Bobcats past Southeast Missouri, giving MSU the 2017 Mayan Division title at the Cancun Challenge.
Hall, who was the Mayan Division MVP, was just four points off the Cancun Challenge individual game record of 38, held by Norris Cole. Hall also hit all four of his free throws; the Bobcats (4-2) went up by 13 points, only to see SEMO (2-3) come all the way back and take the lead, 58-57, on a layup by Milos Vranes. Devonte Klines hit a key driving layup with 1:45 to go to put Montana State back up, 80-75, and he chased down the rebound of his own missed free throw to allow his team to burn more time off the clock.
Bonton had 12 points, and MSU went 26-of-34 from the free-throw line.
SEMO was paced by Denzel Mahoney, who had 27 points and six rebounds. Jonathan Dalton and Daniel Simmons each had 12 points.
