No. 12 Duke used hot shooting and its size advantage to good use Friday, running past Iowa State, 86-48, in the Mayan Division of the women’s Cancun Challenge.
Rebecca Greenwell had 15 points for the Blue Devils (5-1), who had a season-high point total. Azura Stevens chipped in 14 points, and Oderah Chidom added 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The Cyclones (2-2) trailed by just four points after one quarter, but they were unable to slow Duke’s roster, which saw 11 players score. The Blue Devils had a 50-33 edge in rebounding and shot 50 percent from the field.
Iowa State got 15 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots from Bryanna Fernstrom. The Cyclones were a chilly 2-of-21 from 3-point range and shot just 28 percent from the field overall.
Duke will play Texas State on Friday at 1:30 p.m. ET, while Iowa State takes on Idaho at 11 a.m. ET.
