The No. 16-ranked DePaul Blue Demons (2-1) use big fourth quarter and come from behind to defeat Princeton 82-67 in the opening day of the women’s Cancun Challenge.
The Blue Demons trailed most of the game before tying it 58-58 at the end of the third quarter. DePaul would outscore Princeton 24-9 in the fourth to seal the win.
DePaul’s Mart’e Grays led all scorers with 23 points and teammate Chante Stonewall finished with a double-double (16 points and 14 rebounds).
Both Sydney Boyer and Carlie Littlefield netted 16 points for Princeton. The Tigers were on fire early in the game connecting on nine three pointers and jumping out to a 15-point lead in the 2nd quarter.
It was a nice rebound win for DePaul who was coming off a tough game against No. 1 Notre Dame. In that game, the Blue Demons led 29-22 after the first quarter only to see the defending national champion charge back for a 101-77 win.
DePaul faces Kansas State on Friday at 11 a.m. ET and Princeton takes on No. 13 Syracuse at 1:30 p.m. ET.
