Hail State shocked the women’s college basketball world in 2017, toppling No. 1 Connecticut in the Final Four, 66-64, in overtime. Fifth-year head coach Vic Schaefer led the Bulldogs to a 34-5 season and a second-place finish in the SEC with a mark of 13-3. Mississippi State will return both top scorers from a year ago. Victoria Vivians paced the Bulldogs, scoring 16.2 points per game while Morgan William averaged 10.9 and led the team in assists with 4.6 per contest. At 75.9 points per game, Mississippi State was second in the SEC last season in scoring. Schaefer will also get back sophomore center Teaira McCown. At a towering 6’7”, McCown averaged near 2.0 blocks a game in 2017. |
