FORT COLLINS, CO – Tournament officials with the Cancun Challenge college basketball event are pleased to announce the 10 D-I women’s teams and seven of the eight men’s programs that will be attending in 2024.
The event takes place during Thanksgiving Week at the all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya. Powered by Triple Crown Sports, this is the 19th edition of the women’s event, with the men set to mark their 17th season (2020 event was played in Florida due to the Pandemic) – players and fans will be just walking distance from their rooms to the converted ballroom that hosts the competition.
The men’s tournament takes place Nov. 26-27, with the games of the Riviera Division set for broadcast on CBS Sports Network as FloHoops will broadcast games from the Mayan Division. The Mayan Division teams are Bethune-Cookman, Gardner-Webb, North Dakota and Southeastern Louisiana; making up the Riviera Division are LMU, Tulane, Wyoming and a team to be announced.
For the women’s event, set for Nov. 28-30 and streamed on FloHoops, the Mayan tournament will be a three-game round robin featuring Providence, San Diego State, VCU and Wisconsin. The Riviera tournament teams get two games apiece; set to take the court are BYU, Idaho State, Iowa, Rhode Island, Rice and Vermont.
