Maryland storms past UMass to wrap up run at 2023 Women's Cancun Challenge

PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MX — Maryland wrapped up its run at the 2023 Women’s Cancun Challenge with a resounding victory over UMass, with grad transfer Jakia Brown-Turner ringing up 17 points, her best in a Terrapins uniform.

The Terrapins (4-3) shot 51 percent from the field and were terrors on defense in forcing 28 turnovers. Shyanne Sellers and Brinae Alexander each scored 13 points for Maryland, with Sellers adding six assists. Maryland closed with a 40-30 edge in rebounds and was in control the whole way, leading 48-25 at halftime.

The Minutewomen (1-7) got 14 points from both Kristin Williams and Lilly Taulelei (a career-high for the latter) and also 10 points from Bre Bellamy.
