Maryland holds off Green Bay 68-59, Seller finishes with 23 points

MARYLAND 68, GREEN BAY 59

PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MX — The Maryland Terrapins (3-3) hold off Green Bay 68-59 as junior guard Shyanne Sellers finished with a game-high 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists.  

The Phoenix fall to 4-2 on the season; both teams are 1-1 in Cancun Challenge play.

Bri McDaniel added 19 points and eight rebounds for the Terrapins.  Jakia Brown-Turner finished with a double-double scoring 10 points and pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds.

Maddy Schreiber led Green Bay with 12 points and Callie Genke added 11.

Maryland trailed for most of the game until Riley Nelson hit a buzzer beater at the end of the third quarter to give the Terrapins a 45-44 lead.  Maryland would not give up the lead the rest of the game.

Both teams struggled from behind the arc as Maryland was just 1 of 11 and Green Bay 4 of 28. The Terrapins controlled the boards outrebounding the Phoenix 57-33.

The Terrapins will take on UMass on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET and Green Bay will face Washington State at 1:30 p.m. ET.  Both games will be streamed live on FloHoops.
