2009 Caribbean Challenge
CARIBBEAN CHALLENGE IN ITS FIFTH YEAR IN CANCUN For Immediate Release – The Caribbean Challenge will kick off its fifth year at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico this November.

The tournament will feature six NCAA DI women’s basketball teams and will be played November 26 and 27, 2009. Each team will play two games while in Cancun.

Arkansas, Cleveland State, Duke, Iona, Marquette, and Western Kentucky headline the field of the 2009 Caribbean Challenge.

Arkansas finished last season with an 18-14 record and returns 3 starters and a solid bench. Cleveland State finished third in the Horizon League last year and is returning four starters. The Duke Blue Devils posted a 27-6 record and finished third in the ACC Conference. Iona returns all five starters and finished with an 18-13 record last season. All Big East second team junior guard Angel Robinson will lead the Marquette Golden Eagles along with Jessica Pacheco, who received All Big East Conference Freshman Team honors. Western Kentucky, led by Sunbelt Conference First Team Selection, Arnika Brown, and is returning all five starters.

The Caribbean Challenge is run by Fort Collins, Colo.-based Triple Crown Sports, which also organizes men’s college basketball tournaments in Cancun. Triple Crown coordinates the Preseason and Postseason Women’s NIT as well.

Seating is limited for this exclusive event, and all fans must book travel packages through Triple Crown Sports for admission into games in Cancun. Games in Cancun will be played November 26th and 27th.
