Purdue claimed a double-digit lead by halftime against Utah State and never let the Aggies back into the contest, riding 26 points from 7-foot-2 center Isaac Haas to the victory and a chance to play Auburn for the Riviera Division championship at the Cancun Challenge.
Haas was 9-of-10 from the field and hit eight free throws, while teammate Dakota Mathias scored 25 points, going 6-for-7 from 3-point range. The Boilermakers (3-1) shot 55 percent from long range (11-of-20), only had 13 turnovers and made 13 more free throws than Utah State (3-1). Caleb Swanigan added 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Vincent Edwards scored 10 points.
Utah State had the game tied at 25-all with 4:44 left in the first half, but Purdue closed with an 11-0 run to build a 39-27 lead.
The Aggies got 16 points and five rebounds from Jalen Moore, and Alexis Dargenton added 14 points and nine rebounds. Julion Pearre scored 10 points.
