LOGAN, Utah – Jalen Moore led a group of five Utah State players with double-figure scoring totals Monday as the Aggies came back from a second-half deficit to ease past New Jersey Institute of Technology in the first U.S. game of the men’s Cancun Challenge.
Moore had 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists for Utah State (2-0), which will host Idaho State on Saturday in another Cancun Challenge contest. Freshman Koby McEwen ended up with 18 points and five rebounds, and Sam Merrill added 15 points. Ngor Barnaba added 12 points, and Norbert Janicek came through with 11 points.
The Aggies shot 43 percent from 3-point range (10-of-23) and responded nicely after giving up all of their nine-point lead at halftime.
NJIT (1-1) got a huge night from Damon Lynn, who closed with 34 points. Tim Coleman added 16 points, and Rob Ukawuba added 12 points, five rebounds and six assists. NJIT will play at Purdue after the overseas games of the Cancun Challenge, wrapping up the event on Nov. 26.
