The Blazers (2-3) held the Panthers (1-5) to just seven points in the fourth quarter. Both teams had 19 turnovers, and both shot 19-of-52 from the field (36.5 percent), but UAB had a 13-5 edge in made free throws and led the rebounding battle, 41-30.
Deanna Kuzmanic scored 11 points for UAB, while High Point got 14 points Kaylah Keys and 12 points from Emma Bockrath.
The Blazers took an eight-point lead after one quarter, but the Panthers tightened up on defense and held the Blazers to just nine points in the second quarter.
High Point will play Georgia Tech on Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET, while UAB takes on NC State on Friday at 4 p.m. ET.
